Utilities Automation Engineer What you will do Amgen is seeking an
Associate Utilities Automation Engineer, internally known as a
Manufacturing Systems Engineer, in our state-of-the-art Rhode
Island facility to join the Automation Engineering team and who
will report to the Mfg Systems Engineering Manager. As a key member
of the Automation Engineering team, the person will support complex
and challenging utility automation initiatives that require
understanding of analytical problem-solving techniques, project
management, lifecycle management and Operational Excellence.
Additionally, the person is responsible for providing project
leadership and daily operational support to the Automation
Engineering team at the Amgen Rhode Island site. Key
Responsibilities include: Provides technical support to commercial
manufacturing and utilities operations, specific to process
control, automation infrastructure, and utility systems Works
closely with multiple teams, including manufacturing, process
engineering, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance,
and validation to implement operational improvements and projects
Leads and supports technical root cause analysis, incident
investigations, and fixing process control issues related to
electrical, instrumentation and control systems supporting utility
generation and distribution systems Provides technical support to
troubleshoot and resolve equipment, automation, or process issues
in the field Develop original code to support operational changes
and optimizations on multiple utility PLC platforms Perform system
owner responsibilities such as change control, maintenance,
backup/restore, and disaster recovery Devises new approaches to
complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard
automation technical principles Develop, organize, analyze, and
present results for operational issues and engineering projects of
small scope and complexity Communicates with multiple levels within
the organization, highlighting issues and proposing solutions
Provides technical support and issue resolution 24x7 on-call
support of Automation systems on a rotational based frequency
Applies experience and knowledge of industry best practices and
tools to attain an innovative organization What we expect of you We

teammate with these qualifications. Basic Qualifications: High
school diploma / GED and 6 years of Engineering experience OR
Associates degree and 4 years of Engineering experience OR
Bachelors degree Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in
Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or
a related technical field Direct experience with regulated
environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA) including a detailed
understanding of cGMPs. Strong written and verbal communication
skills Proven ability to function within multi-functional teams and
accept a team-based culture. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs,
FactoryTalk suite of applications Experience with the following
automation platforms: Siemens Step-7/TIA Portal, WinCC, Siemens
Desigo, iFix SCADA, OSI PI, Emerson DeltaV Direct experience in a
regulated environment (e.g. GMP, OSHA, EPA) including a detailed
understanding of current good manufacturing practices Familiarity
with industry standards for process control systems, software
development life cycle methodologies, ISA-S88, 21 CFR Part 11,
Validation, and GAMP Experience with WFI
generation/storage/distribution, clean steam generation,
chillers/boilers, gas storage/distribution (e.g. Oxygen), building
automation preferred Experience with validation and change control

range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted.
Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not
limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. In
