---POSITION SUMMARYAssists the Manager, Financial Reporting in the reporting of Elliot Health System financial operations. The senior accountant is responsible for the monthly reporting of significant components of the Elliot Health system such as groups of entities' (VNA companies), groups of departments (all administrative, all clinical or all ancillary departments) and the Elliot Health System investment portfolio.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEmployees are expected to work consistently to demonstrate the mission, vision, beliefs, core values and standards of behavior of the organization. Processes cash transfers within Elliot Health System bank accounts in addition to ACH's and wire transfers to recipients external to Elliot Health System.Records and maintains detail schedules of various balance sheet accounts for individual entities on a monthly basis - prepares reconciliation of GL balance with supporting documentation.Responsible for preparation and input of recurring, standard and manual journal entries.Monitors cash balances for several entities and reconciles monthly bank statements in a timely manner.Reconciles main checking account of Elliot Hospital.Prepares a complete balance sheet and income statement for individual or groups of entities within the Elliot Health System. Analyzes revenue and expense postings comparing actual to budget on a monthly basis. Records accruals or deferrals of costs and revenues as necessary.Researches items identified during preliminary review by Manager of Financial Reporting.Responsible for monitoring receivable and/or payable balances from all outside parties/clients - services provided include grants and corporate borrowings.Prepares consolidated and combined financial statements at various levels on a monthly and quarterly basis.Participates fully in interim and year-end audit process - prepares audit schedules as assigned by Manager and interacts with auditors as necessary.Assists other members of Elliot Health System in understanding financial policies and procedures needed to ensure timely account postings to various GL, AR and AP systems.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Minimally Required:Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience requiredExperience:Minimally Required: Minimum of three (3) years of related experience requiredPreferred:Healthcare experience preferredKnowledge:Minimally Required:Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.Knowledge of federal and state financial regulationsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office requiredPreferred:Lawson business software a plusAbilities: Minimally Required: Ability to work independently and take initiativeAbility to express and clearly communicate Finance policies and procedures and/or detailed instructions and procedures for proper recordkeeping.Ability to participate constructively in meetings/group projects with colleagues as well as others outside the Finance area.Ability to plan and execute special projects to successful/desired results within the stated time frame as assigned by Manager.Ability to perform a thorough review of balance sheet and income statement accounts - tasks to be performed include recommending/executing correcting entries, raising potential issues for discussion, identifying problem accounts, analyzing balances for accuracy and completeness and proposing accrual or deferral entries as appropriate.Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
