will coordinate and lead activities involved with purchasing and
planning of goods, services and commodities of strategic importance
to multiple Gentex Corporation product lines working with a global
supplier base. May also procure for production items such as raw
materials, equipment, tools, fabricated parts, supplies and
miscellaneous items for the entire organization.ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
- Manage and develop supply base to reduce number of suppliers
and ensure high quality and low cost
- Work closely with Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to evaluate
supplier capabilities and reliability, perform on-site supplier
risk assessments as needed; participate in supplier scorecard
process
- Processes purchase requisitions, purchase orders, purchase
order revisions, and requests for quotes to suppliers
- Manage and develop inventory reduction strategies that support
site and enterprise objectives
- Able to evaluate bid responses, perform cost/price analysis,
negotiate price, delivery schedules, and place purchase orders in
accordance with division policies, procedures and government
regulations.
- Optimize value-added inventory management techniques (e.g.,
Demand/Pull, VMI and Consignment)
- Drive cost savings initiatives through alternative sources and
value add opportunities
- Leads supplier issue resolutions (lead time, drawing issues,
etc.); work with Supply Chain / Program Manager, Supplier Quality,
etc. to resolve supplier quality issues, identify sources for new
products, and improve supplier performance; issue supplier
corrective actions, and quality control instructions; and assess
supplier responses to corrective action requests
- Primary assigned commodity will be PCB Assemblies, Cable
Harness Assemblies, and other electrical components.
- Resolves invoice discrepancies with suppliers and Accounts
Payable.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Suppliers to
execute Value Engineering (VE) opportunities
- Work within the Approved Supplier List and analyze trends to
develop strategies for supplier management and optimization
- Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best
source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements for
electronic components, mechanical components and electro-mechanical
components.
- Negotiate and manage long term pricing agreements on critical
commodities.
- Execute/Generate CPSR-compliant purchase orders, based on
approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other
similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of
commodities or major subcontract items
- Initiate and follow through on any supplier changes
(Engineering Change Notices)
- Establish and maintain sound professional relationships with
suppliers. Resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims,
contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions.
- Maintain current accurate records and files of all vendor
agreements and related procurement records
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):Bachelor's Degree in
business or related field is preferred EXPERIENCE:
- Five to eight years of experience in a Senior Buyer role.
- Five to eight years of experience in a High-Tech manufacturing
environment required; electro/mechanical assembly preferred.
- Must have previous PCB assembly, Cable Harness, and
electro-mechanical assembly purchasing experience and be able to
demonstrate an advanced understanding of the technical requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage
multiple priorities within established deadlines
- Monitor and manage supplier performance through on time
delivery and quality metrics
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within teams
to accomplish company objectives
- Working knowledge of MRP and ERP principles and materials
management
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and Lean
concepts
- Highly effective project and time management skills
- Commitment to customer excellence with demonstrated ethics and
integrity
- Ability to work and succeed in a fast-paced, deadline driven
environment while demonstrating solid presentation, communication
and team building skills
- Knowledge / understanding of Government contractor purchasing
requirements, how to apply Federal Acquisition Requirements/Defense
Federal Acquisition Requirements, and use of the Enterprise
Resource Planning/Materials Requirement Planning systems
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to develop win-win
solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong PC computer skills including Excel , Word and Power
Point
