Job Description:
Dept is looking for a Principal UX Designer to join our
Experience Design team in Manchester. Our Experience Design team is
mixed disciplinary, comprising UX Specialists, Product Owners and
Visual Designers. You will work collaboratively within the team to
create amazing experiences that exceed client expectations for a
variety of global, high-profile B2B and B2C brands. The purpose of
the Principal role is two-fold. Firstly, you will scope projects in
the early stages by estimating and defining tasks, structuring
project deliverables, making sure you have the right people and
process in place to successfully deliver project work. Secondly,
you will take the lead in running client-facing engagements,
running design sprints and stakeholder workshops, as well as
delivering exceptional designs using the latest tools, technology
and processes. To be successful in this role, you'll need to be an
expert in UX, research and design practices such as customer
journeys, wireframing, usability testing and prototyping. You will
also have a good understanding around wider technologies, platforms
and digital strategy. You will help your team produce and deliver
reports that summarise findings and help clients to define how to
measure their digital success with objectives and KPIs. As this is
a client-facing role, you will need to be comfortable dealing with
people, and confident when communicating your research and ideas.
The successful candidate would be expected to work collaboratively
with senior client stakeholders and within the team, using their
creativity and experience to find effective solutions to digital
challenges. You will work in a vibrant environment with clever

- Are an expert in your field, with 8-10 years of experience in
UX, research and design -
- Understand the UCD process from start to finish including the
production of deliverables across multiple disciplines
- Are capable of scoping work, defining our approach to projects
and delivering pitches
- Are able to provide detailed estimates and approaches for both
discovery (research) and definition (design) phases of work
- Are capable of leading a team through projects,
mentoring/coaching where necessary
- Are a natural problem solver and can help others identify
solutions to fix problems
- Are accustomed to providing constructive feedback to the team
in order to achieve better results for the project and client, as
well as the design team and the larger team
- Are experienced in working with agile and waterfall
processes
- Are experienced in delivering Google Ventures Design
Sprints
- Are experienced in creating prototypes and user testing to
validate our ideas
- Are highly experienced in working with Figma (Sketch and Adobe
XD also preferred) -
- Are experienced in working with atomic design and design
systems, and using reusable components
- Are confident in running client workshops and delivering client
presentations
- Are experienced in working with multidisciplinary teams (UX
Designers, UI Designers, Business Analysts, Front and Back End
Developers)
- Are curious to learn and have a proactive approach to sharing
knowledge with others -
- Are passionate about constantly iterating and improving our
working processes and tooling
- Are comfortable in advocating and showcasing the creative work
we produce to the wider company and external audiences by hosting
