Responsibilities:

Responsible for overall oversight, administration, development, and strategic planning for the AmeriHealth Caritas (AC) CLAS (Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Services) program and access for AC culturally diverse, multi-lingual population.  The CLAS Coordinator reports directly to the Manager of Accreditation and in partnership with the Director of Health Equity works to advance AC’s commitment to eliminate health disparities and successfully execute the CLAS Program.

  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), Office of Minority Health (OMH) and other regulatory standards related to Cultural and Linguistically Appropriate Services activities.  Develops and submits documentation and updates required to meet CLAS compliance including (Program Description, Program Evaluation and Work Plan).   
  • Develops assessment of CLAS Program goals and proposes performance improvement as necessary.
  • Assists in the development and annual review of policies that represent the CLAS function.
  • Reviews and analyzes CAHPS and HEDIS and in conjunction with the plan QI Director identifies areas of ongoing disparities and supports the development of solutions to improve disparities in gaps in care.
  • Works with the Manager of Accreditation to ensure successful completion of NCQA Health Equity Accreditation surveys. Ensure ongoing readiness for the NCQA Health Equity Accreditation surveys including standards and reports. 
  • Manage and facilitate CLAS Committee agenda and reporting. Provide regular reports to Member Advisory Committee and Quality Service Committee on CLAS Program activities.
  • Collaborates with internal departments and external community organizations to ensure ongoing management of the CLAS program and identifying improvements in language access and equity services for AC’s membership.  
  • Serve as contributor to Health Education, Outreach and Advisory Committee and solicit recommendations from community groups that are focused on culturally sensitive interventions, improving health care quality and health literacy.
  • Conducts ongoing oversight of language translation processes to ensure necessary documentation and satisfaction through member/associate surveys.
  • Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis through a racial equity lens in order to identify and track disparities, and make programmatic recommendations to eliminate disparities and improve health outcomes. Methods may include quantitative analysis to disaggregate data by race and ethnicity.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Comfort with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, commitment to participatory research.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years in managed care preferably in cultural competency and/or quality management.
