Job Description:

Under the general direction of the Director of Cardiology, the RN Manager is accountable for the facilitation of excellence in patient care delivery, operational efficiencies, and ensures compliance in accordance with nursing practice standards of care and with Catholic Medical Center, NEHVI, and regulatory policies and practices established by the State Board of Nursing and the Joint Commission. This role has managerial oversight for the clinical staff within the Cardiology office. The RN Manager identifies, initiates, and participates in Catholic Medical Center and NEHVI quality improvement activities. In this role, the RN Manager participates in a collaborative relationship with the interdisciplinary team, including providers, nurses, support staff, and other members of the health care team. As a Nurse Leader, the RN Manager directs and evaluates all clinical staff within Cardiology and serves as a resource and role model for nursing and clinical support staff.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general direction of the Director, Cardiology Operations and within established Catholic Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures and all applicable laws the incumbent performs the following functions.

* Manages the day-to-day clinical operations of Cardiology. Monitors staffing levels and allocates staffing as necessary to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of patient care. Provides vision and leadership to direct reports in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking. Ensures the clinical team understands their role in accountability for high level performance consistent with evidence-based practices, accomplishing Catholic Medical Center and NEHVI's goals and objectives. * Fosters the development of a work environment conducive to the delivery of superior nursing care and appropriate staff recruitment and retention. Assesses the adequacy of staffing levels for clinical nursing staff and makes recommendations to management regarding additional staffing needs or role changes. Assigns and monitors staff workload to ensure maximum productivity; creates an atmosphere and conditions that motivate employees to work at optimal efficiency. * Facilitates evidence-based nursing by creating an environment that encourages utilization of evidence in practice and decision-making to maintain quality, cost, and customer service; ensures integration of evidence in accordance with departmental, organizational, and strategic goals. * Remains current regarding standards of care established by the department, the profession, and regulatory agencies. Develops and implements strategies for ensuring compliance with patient care standards, laws, and the standards and requirements of various professional organizations and regulatory agencies. * Establishes and maintains effective communication and positive relationships with Cardiology leaders, providers and staff. Promotes a culture of two-way communication, teamwork, excellence, and accountability within the practices. Fosters a positive image of the practices by encouraging effective internal and external working relationships. Ensures confidentiality in matters involving Catholic Medical Center and NEHVI including those dealing with patients, providers, and staff. * Participates in the development of programs designed to cultivate provider and staff engagement and satisfaction. Encourages provider and staff participation in program development. Collaborates in the implementation and monitoring of programs per protocol. * Monitors employee needs for training. Develops annual training and development plans and makes appropriate arrangements for training in conjunction with each employee. Communicates practices' goals to employees and fosters a work environment that motivates employees to achieve these goals. * Supports the Director to prepare, monitor, and administer annual budgets for associated cost center (s) considering trends, projections, and department/hospital objectives and goals. Develop, implement, and evaluate corrective action plans for variances when appropriate. Identify and prioritize capital budget needs for area(s) of responsibility. * Participate in the development, interpretation, and implementation of Cardiology patient care policies, standards, and guidelines. Gathers, interprets, and disseminates information on hospital-wide policies, new programs, and other pertinent information to staff. * Builds effective relationships with CMC leaders through fostering a high level of collaboration in order to develop and coordinate work activities, exchange information, and resolve problems. Ensures direct reports work collaboratively with others in successfully supporting strategic and other initiatives. * Maintains knowledge of the most current accreditation standards and related state and federal regulations. Identifies, recommends, and implements strategies to maintain a continuous state of readiness. Performs routine tracers and audits in clinical and non-clinical areas to identify improvement opportunities. Participates in the development of responses to actual or potential non-compliance identified through these assessments. Collaborates to ensure that appropriate corrective measures have been taken and that they have successfully eliminated the risk or deficiency. Reports outcomes to the Director and other key stakeholders. Monitors clinical staff's adherence to Catholic Medical Center's policies and procedures which ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, federal, and other applicable regulations. * Executes daily huddles to effectively communicate organizational updates, focus on providing quality patient care, ensure problems are quickly resolved, operational and staffing changes are announced, and to proactively plan for the upcoming day. Assists in daily workflow management for the clinical operations. Researches issues and involves others to solve problems. * Performs all supervisory timekeeping tasks in the payroll platform. Reviews time and attendance to ensure adherence to organizational policies. Manages paid leave time and FMLA calendar for all practice staff. * Develops and maintains an effective, visible, and well-respected team by selecting, evaluating, coaching, and managing the performance of qualified individuals. Reviews and updates job descriptions for clinical and non-clinical personnel on an annual basis. Creates job descriptions as needed for new staffing positions. Recommends and justifies new staffing positions as required by business need. * Manages the annual written performance evaluation process for all employees with input from the providers. Recommends appropriate merit increases or performance improvement plans, if necessary. * Maintains own professional growth and development through professional affiliations, educational programs, and seminars. Researches industry trends and technology solutions as it relates to NEHVI. Shares relevant information with key stakeholders. Serves as a resource to other departments and disciplines in the cardiac care specialty; enables and encourages staff to do the same. * Participates in appropriate role in Hospital disasters, fire drills, fire and other emergency situations. * Exercises care in the operation and use of Hospital equipment and reference materials. Ensures routine cleaning and preventative maintenance is done to maintain continuing functions of equipment.

Education:

* Bachelors of Science in Nursing * Master's Degree strongly preferred.

Experience:

* 5 plus year of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse in Cardiology. * 2 plus years of supervisory experience.

Licensure/Certification:

* Current registration in the State of NH as a Registered Nurse * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. * AMB-BC Certification highly preferred. * Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt strong desired.
