Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY Implements patient diet orders in a therapeutically accurate manner while enhancing patient satisfaction with meal service. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Answers room service telephone calls and utilizes room service software in an accurate and efficient manner. Identifies patients needing assistance and patients who are unable to participate in room service, providing the appropriate assistance to enable these patients to meet food preferences within the constraints of their diet orders. Utilizes all tools and resources to provide therapeutically correct meal items for patients. Monitors and implements appropriate interventions for patients with potential drug nutrient interactions. Monitors and implements appropriate interventions for patients with food allergies as well as patients on insulin. Provides outstanding customer service, resulting in a high level of patient satisfaction. Communicates effectively with dietitians, staff in food service, and staff in other parts of the organization, regarding patient care needs. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE # SKILLS Excellent listening skills and customer service skills. Ability to work successfully as a team member, focusing on positive outcomes for patients, co-workers, and the organization. Understanding of the needs of diverse patients of different ages and backgrounds. Ability to provide care that is appropriate to each patient#s needs. Ability to learn and implement resources for maintaining therapeutic accuracy of diet order. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Preferred but not required. Certification/Licensure: Software/Hardware: OTHER REQUIREMENTS Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, holidays. Other:
