Job Description:

per diem, as needed, variable shifts POSITION SUMMARY Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, employees and their property as well as ensures the security of the buildings and property of Elliot Health System properties. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, organize, direct and schedule all assignments of security officers on his/her shift and provide instruction for any special duties required in addition to regular duties. Conducts regularly scheduled patrols of EHS buildings and grounds, checking all doors, windows, alarms and firefighting equipment (extinguishers, etc). Maintains administrative and operational control of the shift assigned. Maintains daily log of activities and submit a written report to the Director on all unusual incidents. Reviews security officers daily activity reports and maintains monthly statistics as required. Instructs shift personnel in office procedures as outlined by the Director of security. Ensures compliance for efficient operation of the shift. He/she is responsible as the on-duty supervisor for the security dept. Reviews payroll for responsible officers on his/her shift. Processes payroll via Kronos System. Conducts staff evaluations, disciplinary actions and enforce policies. Recommends personnel actions relative to hiring, employee relations, and performance reviews to the Director of Security. Refers unusual or complex situations to the Director of Security. Responds to emergency situations including #Code Red#, #Code Grey#, #Code Yellow#, and #Code Blue.# Hold responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the department computer systems, inform shift officers of proper procedures, monitors the security access system, issues parking permits as requested. Recommends staffing, training and equipment needed. Assists with the transportation of deceased persons and their property to the hospital morgue. Provides release of deceased persons and their property after obtaining proper authorization from hospital supervisor. Maintains precise #chain of custody# records in this matter. Maintains radio communication via walkie-talkie with hospital Communications Center and other security officers and responds to requests made by the switchboard on behalf of patients, employees, physicians and visitors. Responds to and assists with Elliot Health System disasters, fire drills, fires and other emergency situations. Ensures confidentiality of senior management, patient information and Elliot Health System matters. Maintains good communications, and establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees, senior management, media and the public. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE # SKILLS Requires knowledge of personal computers, Word/Excel/Powerpoint. Security Access System knowledge, use and knowledge of CCTV systems. Ability to proceed alone following standard practices and any of several procedures, referring questionable cases when they arise outside of standard practice. Good verbal and written communication skills. General computer skills. Ability to endure periodic episodes of heavy workload and/or stress. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE Education: High School Education or equivalent required. Post-secondary education preferred. Experience: Prior security experience in civil or military police required. Two (2) years experience in supervision of personnel preferred. Certification/Licensure: Current valid driver#s license required with no misdemeanor or felony motor vehicle conviction. Software/Hardware: General knowledge of computers and systems to include Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook.
