Practice Setting and Clinical Scope

As a Hospitalist Physician, you will provide direct medical care for hospitalized patients, including admissions, daily rounding, and discharges. You will have the opportunity to evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Your role will involve delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care and collaborating with specialists, primary care providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, CRNAs, Emergency Medicine physicians, and ancillary services. You will coordinate patient care plans, ensure smooth transitions of care, and educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Schedule and Assignment Details

You will work 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00, with a rotating weekend schedule. This predictable schedule allows for a balanced work-life arrangement, giving you ample time to enjoy the surrounding community and outdoor activities. The position is full-time and offers continuity and scheduling stability.

Support and Work Environment

Join a collaborative and supportive work environment with a focus on interdisciplinary teamwork. You will participate in clinical rounds and interdisciplinary meetings, ensuring comprehensive patient care. The hospital provides specialty backup, including surgeons for central lines, respiratory therapy, emergency physicians, and CRNAs, enhancing the quality of care provided.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Active Vermont Medical License required.
  • DEA certification must be obtained prior to starting.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Experience in ventilator management and running codes is required.
  • 2-3 years of Hospitalist experience is highly preferred.
  • Rural health experience is highly preferred.
  • Clean malpractice history is required.
