Job Description:

SUMMARY: provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population. CLINICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations,evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patientpopulation. 2. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriateto assessed medicalconditions. 3. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components asappropriate. 4. May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit,or outpatientoffice 5. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff asrequired. 6. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuousquality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection controlstandards. 7. As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, educationand/or preventionprograms. 8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties asassigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: - Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, andprogress. - Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medicalcare. - Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and abilityto prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correctusage. - Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection controlstandards. - Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area ofmedical expertise. - Knowledge of related accreditation and certificationrequirements. - Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery ofmedical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area ofexpertise. - Ability to work both independently and in a teamenvironment. - Effective verbal and written communicationskills. - Ability to supervise, advice, and train clinical professionals and/or students in areaof expertise. - Ability to develop and present educational programs and/orworkshops.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check and drug screen - ACLS or CPRCertified. Must be completed through the American Heart Association. - Pre-employment background investigation isrequired.
