Job Description:
Performs all special procedures for assigned patients who
include adolescents, adults and older adults. Creates a therapeutic
environment for pediatric and adult patients and family. Carries
out functions in a manner consistent with total quality
care.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Performs all routine
radiographic procedures and views according to the department
Procedure Manual.2. Prepares and positions patient for special
procedures; obtains scout film, sets up sterile tray.3. Positions
patient to obtain desired views and applies immobilization devices
as required.4. Prepares patient and self for sterile technique.5.
Assists physician in passing catheters, wires and any related
tools.6. Assists in the movements of patients to and from
wheelchairs, stretchers, and radiographic tables.7. Assists
physician with special procedures such as vascular, neurological,
digital, utilizing specialized equipment.8. Attends regularly
schedule meetings, i.e. staff, in-service training.9. Prepares
and/or administers contrast media i.e., orally, IV, rectally.10.
Confirms patient identification by verbal confirmation, ID band,
etc.11. Describes nature and time requirements of requested
examinations to patient.12. Provides radiation protection to
patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety
standards.13. Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code
procedures and administers first aid/CPR as needed.14. Records
patient history, unusual conditions/limitations and other
information such as; exam time, room number and technique.15.
Restocks supplies and maintains assigned work station/equipment in
an orderly fashion and orders supplies. Adjusts technical factors
in proportion to patient and body part being examined while
minimizing radiation.16. Identifies problems and communicates to
immediate supervisor, offer solutions as appropriate.17. Keeps
room/work station neat and orderly.18. Performs and/or assists with
radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.19. Computes itemized
products for charging the patient.20. Maintains clinical competency
for designated area annually.21. Attends meetings and seminars
external to the department in order to maintain professional
acumen.22. Completes paperwork when applicable.23. Participates in
identified professional organizations as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

deliver patient care in a manner that is appropriate to patient's

requirements include ability to bend body downward and forward by

and spine; extend hand (s) and arm (s) in any direction; stand for
sustained periods of time; move about on foot to accomplish tasks;

downward, or outward; use upper extremities to exert force in order
to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion; raise
objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects
horizontally from position to position; pick, pinch, type or
otherwise work with fingers and palm; perceive attributes of
objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching
with skin, particularly that of fingertips.3. Ability to express or
exchange ideas by means of the spoken work. Primary functions
include activities in which incumbent must convey detailed or
important spoken instructions to patients, physicians, families and
other employees, loudly or quickly.4. Ability to receive detailed
information through oral communication and to make discriminations
in sound.5. Visual acuity sufficient for work which deals largely
with visual inspection involving small anatomic or physiologic
details, as well as the whole patient, and sufficient for preparing
and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer
terminal operation, extensive reading and visual inspection
involving small parts/defects.6. Ability to plan and perform
diversified duties requiring knowledge of nursing of the patient
including age-related changes, and the use of a wide range of
procedures. Involves the exercise of judgment in the analysis of
facts and conditions regarding individual's problems, concerns or
cultural factors to determine the plan of care and what actions
should be taken, within the limits of standard practice.7. Ability
to work in surroundings which may subject the incumbent to inside
environmental conditions without protection from temperature
changes; hazards including proximity to moving mechanical parts,
electrical current, exposure to high heat and exposure to drugs and
chemicals; atmospheric conditions with one or more conditions that
affect the respiratory system or the skin (i.e. fumes, odors, dust,
mists, gases).8. Ability to wear protective clothing such as gown,
mask, glove, head cover, lead apron, safety glasses and/or safety
shoes.9. Ability to perform job alone following standard practices
and any of several procedures, but refer questionable cases when
they arise out of standard practice.10. Ability to exert up to 50
pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force
frequently and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or
otherwise move objects.11. Ability to demonstrate courtesy,
compassion and respect in relating to patients, families, visitors,
physicians and coworkers.12. Ability to communicate effectively and
establish a cooperative, collaborative working environment.13.
Ability to accept constructive feedback and initiate appropriate
actions to correct situations.14. Ability to perform all activities
outlined in the department-specific orientation guidelines.15. Has
working knowledge of all radiographic equipment within the
department.16. Willingness to identify and take action toward
meeting own learning needs.OSHA RATING: Category I (Exposure to
blood borne pathogens)PHI ACCESS: CompleteWORK SCHEDULE: Must be
able to work weekends, shifts and holidays. Must be cross trained
in other duties within the Radiology
Department.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Completion of formal
Radiological Technologist training in an AMA approved
school.Experience: Some experience in Special Procedures
preferred.License/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification required; must be from the American Heart Association
Current registration as an ARRT. Must renew certification and/or
registration annually with 24 hours of continuing education
bi-annually. Vascular-Interventional Radiology or
Cardiac-Interventional Radiology through ARRT preferred. Currently
registered with New Hampshire Board of Medical
TechniciansIndividuals are required to refrain from participating
