Job DescriptionPurpose: The ASC Operating Room RN is directly responsible for performing the roles and responsibilities of the circulating and/or scrub nurse in the operating room. The RN will provide direct patient care in accordance with ASC policies and AORN standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining a safe surgical environment; fiscal stewardship of supplies, materials and resources; continuing education for self and new employees; active involvement in quality and process improvement activities. The OR RN in the ASC is part of a team environment. Responsibilities: Practicesconsistently with applicable state nursing practice regulations, applicable ASCpolicies and procedures, and the ANA Code of Ethics. * Ensuresproper equipment is available and ready for surgical cases. * Ensuressafety measures including time out process, safe patient positioning, requiredsurgical documentation, and surgical count process are appropriately performed. * Assistsanesthesia and surgeon with needs of the patient. * Identifiesopportunities for improved OR efficiencies. * Communicateswith colleagues professionally, with commitment to maintaining a respectfulworkplace culture and a safe learning environment. * Complieswith policies, procedures, and area-specific expectations related tomaintaining a safe environment of care. Initiates reporting or action whenneeded to address safety concerns. * Complieswith policies, procedures and area-specific expectations related to: * medicationsafety * patientidentification and specimen labeling activities * documentationof patient information and patient care activities * dependability,attendance, and scheduling * Participatesin staff meetings, required learning, attestation, competency, and trainingactivities according to area-specific and organizational expectations.Independently monitors email and other communications as necessary to meetthese expectations. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications: ---Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required. ---Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred with at least 1 year of experience in an ASC. ---Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with 2 years' experience. ---Prior ASC or OR experience a must. Required Licensure/Certification Skills: ---Licensed Registered Nurse in New Hampshire required. ---Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required ---CNOR Certification Preferred
