Position Description:

Develops technology solutions and strategies using a data-driven approach. Leads the delivery of software solutions and implementation of engineering standards and best practices, using middleware technologies (Java stack, messaging and streaming technologies), Web containers, client-side technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular), and backend technologies (PL/SQL and Oracle database). Ensures the delivery of quality software across teams through the implementation of development and testing practices -- Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD) and Test automation. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Ensures team talent composition aligns with strategic business priorities including, workforce planning vital to provide increased value and results for customers and the business.

Leads a team to develop innovative solutions, using an in-depth knowledge of software engineering and development expertise.

Aligns chapter members across squads and product areas to ensure the best utilization of talent.

Sets and applies standards and ensures work performed is aligned with established technology roadmaps.

Collaborates with Product Area leadership teams to reduce technical debt and modernize applications.

Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.

Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.

Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.

Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.

Drives innovation within the team and encourages creative thinking for software application solutions being delivered.

Leads, coaches, mentors, and develops people and teams.

Champions practices and capability development across the team.

Supports and empowers chapter members to enable delivery of increased value in their teams.

Influences strategic backlog and prioritization of decisions related to technology expertise.

Measures performance through established objectives and metrics to deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results.

Directs daily operations of the department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines.

Reviews project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.

Assigns and reviews the work of systems analysts, programmers, and other computer-related workers.

Prepares or reviews operational or project progress reports.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or six (6) years of experience leading a global team of software engineers responsible for application software development in an Agile environment.

Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or four (4) years of experience leading a global team of software engineers responsible for application software development in an Agile environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (DE) designing and developing distributed, fault tolerant, and high throughput enterprise software solutions using middleware technologies (Java, RESTful Webservices, Spring, and Java Message Service (JMS), and backend and (Oracle database and PL/SQL), frontend technologies (JavaScript and Angular); and decomposing monolith systems according to Microservices Architecture and Domain Driven Design (DDD).

DE designing and developing scalable, highly available, and cost-efficient business critical applications in a regulated industry on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud infrastructure using AWS services -- Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2), Application Load Balancer (ALB), Simple Storage Service (S3), and NoSQL database; ensuring application security using Open Authorization (OAuth2); and performing monitoring and alerting using Datadog.

DE designing and developing risk-based portfolio construction platforms -- analyzing and tracking requirements (using JIRA), managing source code (using Git), building and distributing (using Maven and Docker) and performing Continuous Integration and Delivery (using Concourse and Chef); performing quality and test automation, using JUnit, utPLSQL and Cucumber; and performing integrations using Apache Kafka following Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD).

DE leading globally dispersed software development teams -- providing technical guidance in the implementation of software engineering standards and best practices; collaborating with cross functional teams and stakeholders on future developments to achieve project objectives -- resource planning, risk identification and mitigation, and scheduling estimations according to Agile methodologies in a regulated industry.
