Job Description:
Position Description: Identifies, isolates, and resolves systems incidents to support
end-to-end systems-- mainframe, application, and distributed.
Automates and integrates applications, data, and systems
infrastructure using mainframe, UNIX, Linux, Windows, and VMWARE
platforms to code. Monitors environments and batch cycle management
of end-to-end (web to mainframe) environments exceeding 7000 mips
(mf) / 40000 batch jobs / 500 distributed systems using Control-M
application and job control languages. Restores systems service,
identifies root causes, and develops systems solutions according to
incident management methodologies. Provides technical expertise and
assists in crisis management for major system outages or issues
with major impact to the business and consults with application
support and development groups on application problems, new
releases, new applications, systems, and infrastructure. Primary Responsibilities: · Defines and recommends process improvement initiatives. · Participates in the development of tools used to facilitate
operational procedures. · Completes technical service requests. · Drives incident management and resolutions and identifies root
cause and coordination of fix-es. · Responsible for the creation and documentation of disaster
recovery procedures. · Creates contingency plans covering key areas of vulnerability
within the system. · Coordinates systems installation and configuration of systems
installation and infrastructure changes. · Responsible for the maintenance of system diagrams and
operational procedures. · Monitors the service desk, resolves problems, and escalates
incidents as per protocols. · Develops tools to automate the collection and analysis of
operational data. · Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope. · Works on multiple projects concurrently. · Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine
design feasibility. · Establishes on-time and on-budget project goals. · Maintains status of project and monitors activities of team
members. · Provides non-production support for existing applications. · Provides application support and assists in the
identification, isolation, and escalation of problems of limited
scope. · Participates in application functionality analysis by
gathering appropriate data and presenting it in chart form for
analysis. · Participates in the evaluation of design for existing systems
to assess their reliability, performance, usage, maintainability,
and cost of ownership. · Participates in the development of technical solutions of
limited complexity to support delivery of service requests. · Performs functional analysis for small to moderate
projects. · Participates in on-call rotations. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied
Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information
Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three
(3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of
experience automating and integrating mainframe applications, data,
and systems infrastructure using Control-M and Job Control Language
(JCL) in a financial services environment. Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information
Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely
related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or
one (1) year of experience automating and integrating mainframe
applications, data, and systems infrastructure using Control-M and
Job Control Language (JCL) in a financial services environment. Skills and Knowledge: Candidate must also possess: • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) scheduling and monitoring batch
application jobs-- using Job Control Language (JCL), CONTROL-M,
Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), Time Sharing Option (TSO) and
Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF)/ SPOOL, CA-VIEW,
and DB2-- in end-to-end (Web to mainframe) environments exceeding
7000 mips (mf) / 40000 batch jobs / 500 distributed systems; and
creating batch jobs to install and configure mainframe applications
using JCL and Restructured Extended Executor (REXX) routines. • DE monitoring service requests to process ad-hoc data and job
update requests-- researching and resolving incident management
tickets--- to solve environment-related issues and restore service
using ServiceNow, JCL, VSAM, Customer Information Control System
(CICS), DB2, and Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL). • DE migrating mainframe components, including source code CICS
LOAD, JCL, Control Cards (ACNTL), Procedures (PROC), and DB2
database (DBRM); and maintaining migration software using JCL,
Endevor, REXX, Control-M, COBOL, Windows Server, and Linux--
according to the Change Management framework-- in non-production
environments. • DE providing day-to-day support and maintaining the data
quality of financial and trading application deployments; and
monitoring batch systems (for brokerage applications) and
non-production trading environments-- using CICS, JCL, Control-M,
