Position Description:

Builds scalable, resilient, and high quality applications using J2EE application development frameworks. Provides business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business unit. Participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve solutions. Provides technical leadership and direction to a globally distributed engineering team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Participates in architecture design.

Defines and implements application level architecture.

Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

Advises senior management on technical strategy.

Mentors junior team members.

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience designing and developing enterprise distributed systems.

Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience designing and developing enterprise distributed systems.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (DE) designing and developing distributed, fault tolerant, high throughput, batch processes and middle-tier SOAP and REST Web services to interact with Oracle RAC relational databases and quantitative based optimization engines for portfolio construction applications, using Java-Spring, JMS, Tibco EMS, and myBatis/iBatis frameworks.

DE decomposing monolithic systems into a modular based architecture of Cloud enabled components according to Domain Driven Design and Micro Service best practices -- 12 Factor App; and enabling developers to build, deploy, run, and scale Single Page Applications (SPAs) and Domain Service Applications in Amazon Web Services (AWS), using AWS as a Cloud platform as a Service (Paas) and native AWS services (EC2, ALB, and S3).

DE building and maintaining user interfaces for portfolio construction applications to interact with SOAP and REST-based middle tier Java-Spring Web services, using Javascript, Angular, NGRX, and NPM.

DE designing and developing applications in an architecture of distributed components in the financial industry -- tracking requirements and project management artifacts (using JIRA), performing defect management (using Quality Center), developing (using Eclipse, jUnit, and SpringSource Tool Suite), and performing test automation (using Spock, Cucumber, or Fitnese), source code management (using BitBucket or GIT), Continuous Integration and Deployment (using Jenkins, Concourse, or uDeploy), and tuning (using dynaTrace or VisualVM) -- according to Agile methodologies.
