- Four-year degree, preferably in an engineering discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or an
MBA is preferred
- Must have 8-10 years of experience in product management and
10-15 years of industry related experience.
- Experience in managing highly visible internal new product
developmental programs with multiple priorities and executing
deadlines is highly desirable.
- Experience working with Government or DoD customers is a
plus.
- Background in electronics or communications products is
necessary.ABOUT THE JOB!As the Sr. Product Manager, you will be
responsible for delivering a differentiated product to market that
addresses a market need and represents a viable business
opportunity. They are responsible for complete product lifecycle
management for all product categories in the Situational Awareness
Value Stream. This position is responsible for managing multiple
product portfolios, the products profitable lifecycle, the
one-to-three-year product roadmap, and future developments. Gentex

including a 9/80 work week.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with Portfolio Management, Value Stream Leadership, and
the Business teams to define the product vision, strategy, and
roadmap.
- Gathers, manages, and prioritizes market/customer
requirements.
- Acts as the customer advocate, articulating the user's and/or
buyer's needs.
- Works closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and support
to ensure business case and customer satisfaction goals are
met.
- Has technical product knowledge or specific domain expertise of
the SAVS product/technology categories (specifically communications
ancillaries, power and data systems, sensors, and other situational
awareness technologies).
- Defines what to solve in the market needs document, where you
articulate the valuable market problem you're solving along with
priorities and justification for each part of the solution.
- Runs beta and pilot programs during the qualification phase
prototype products and samples. In Agile environments, regularly
reviews completed work and checks with customers to ensure that it
meets the customer expectations.
- Is a market expert. Market expertise includes understanding the
reasons customers purchase products. This includes a deep
understanding of the competition, and how customers think of and
buy your product.
- Acts as the SAVS product's leader within the company.
- Develops the business case for new products, improvements to
existing products, and business ventures.
- Works with Product Marketing to develop positioning for the
product.
- Recommends or contributes information in setting product
pricing. The Sr. Product Manager provides awareness of competitive
pricing and perceived value in the market as part of the pricing
decision.
- Participate in trade shows, customer visits, conferencing, and
marketing events. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Requires a high degree of self-motivation and is responsible
for coordinating efforts with varying levels of internal and
external individuals to ensure that finished products satisfy
established requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding and practical application of Product
Lifecycle Management.
- Demonstrated expert abilities in development of Market
Requirements Documents.
- Strong understanding of product roadmaps and execution
planning.
- Demonstrated success in defining and launching products that
meet and exceed business objectives.
- Subject matter expertise in situational awareness products,
technology, and market areas (specifically communications
ancillaries, power and data systems, sensors, and other situational
awareness technologies).
- Solid understanding of financial concepts and their
implications for product/business strategy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess strong presentation skills to engage the attention of
both customers and colleagues.
- Possess a strong power of persuasion
- Possess strong project management skills.
- Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications
including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and
