The Director, Open Educational Resources and Intellectual Property drives the development of the new open educational resources and intellectual property management functional area within the Office of Knowledge Management and Information Science. Taking advantage of the synergies between open educational resources and archival materials in the realms of cataloging, repositories, intellectual property rights, and academic integration, the Director collaborates with stakeholders throughout the university to use systems, develop best practices, and advocate for the use of open educational resources and archival content throughout the university. The Director works closely with the knowledge management and emerging technology functional area on technological developments to support open educational resources, archives, and intellectual property initiatives.. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:. Serves as a subject matter expert and collaborative leader on open educational resources and intellectual property initiatives across the university and serves as a stakeholder in university-wide initiatives that are impacted by these topics.. Advises curriculum developers, content creators, and others in the discovery, adoption, creation, modification, dissemination, identification, and assessment of open and archival content in educational, promotional, and other contexts.. Leads and manages the institution's strategy for archiving its history and scholarly output, including solutions for both digital and physical materials.. Provides expertise and support to the university community on Copyright and Fair Use best practices and Copyright policy development.. Develops and delivers regular copyright and open content-related training opportunities for university stakeholders.. Supervises student workers and develops a staffing strategy for the newly created department.. Creates, maintains, and promotes resources including repositories, research guides, learning objects, and workshops supporting open educational resources, archives, and intellectual property strategy.. Minimum Qualifications:. 5+ years of increasing responsibility in related fields.. Master's Degree in library science or a related field.. Knowledge of metadata schema such as LRMI, Dublin Core, and EAD.. Experience using or managing cataloging or repository systems.. Knowledge of digital and physical preservation practices.. understanding of intellectual property and copyright in an academic setting.. Demonstrated knowledge of current practices in open educational resources and open content use.. Supervisory experience.. Working Environment and Physical Requirements:. Office Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. Professional office environment. Sedentary work: Requires remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods..
