We've built an award-winning product using modern technologies and have been named one the best Tech Startup in VT according to Tech Tribune, along with "Agent of the Future" award from Liberty Mutual and "Agent of the Year" from Travelers.A Manager of Software Engineering Insurance, will oversee the continued maintenance and enhancement of the DealerPolicy Insurance Product Development Platform. This role manages the activities of Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Product Owners for a Software Group in Engineering. It will facilitate the organization of agile engineering teams within a group, and support and manage the members of those teams. This role will collaborate with Product development & leadership to ensure software is being built to spec and is high-quality. Reports to Director, Software Engineering, Insurance.Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of software built by engineering teams
  • Responsible for defining and supporting the process for agile teams and software groups
  • People manage Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Product Owners
  • Manage the teaming and grouping of agile software teams
  • Ensure accurate and high-quality delivery of Planning Increment commitments
  • Proactively communicate deviations to plans or delays in development to Director
  • Ensure engineering team members have the resources and tools they need to excel and flourish
  • Build an inclusive and supporting culture that attracts and retains engineering talent
  • Collaborate with Manager, Product Support to provide tier-2 on-call function for critical problems needing immediate remediation. Assign resources to on-call schedule if needed
  • Collaborate with other engineering managers to maintain consistency in how we approach software development
  • Provide 1:1 meeting, career counseling, evaluations, checkpoints, and reviews
  • Provide teams consistent communication and insight into prioritization, business goals, vision, and strategy
  • Define and monitor engineering team performance metrics and monitor and manage too high-performance
  • Ensure team sprint commitments are met, and that the team is on track for the Planning Increment. Proactively communicate and escalate when this is not the case.Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Comfortable working with business leaders to develop development strategies and plans
    • 3+ years of experience in a people-management or team-servant role
    • 5+ years in software development industry
