Job Description
GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting and challenging opportunity with advancement and growth potential for an Associate Energy Engineer in our Manchester, NH, Northeast regional office. This position is for a motivated entry level candidate with strong data management skills and a foundational understanding of mechanical or architectural engineering principles. You would be joining a growing team of energy engineers that are providing independent consulting on energy efficiency projects in commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities throughout New England.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage complex data sets, working extensively in Microsoft Excel.
  • Conduct plans review for commercial new construction and major renovation projects. Assess compliance with local energy codes and prepare analysis of how energy performance exceeds code minimums using established tools.
  • Prepare energy analysis for various projects, using Microsoft Excel, following calculations that are prescribed by various State Technical Reference Manuals (TRMs).
  • Assist GDS Project Managers and consulting staff with data collection, energy, statistical and financial analysis, report writing, and presentation to clients.
  • Performing supplemental research on energy efficiency and distributed generation (solar, CHP, storage, electric vehicle, etc.) technology for on-going GDS projects.
  • Travel within the New England region to job sites and meetings (10-30%).

    Experience and Skills
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have foundational understanding of HVAC system operating principles.
    • Demonstrated excellence in Microsoft Excel and data management. Experience with other data management platforms is desirable but not required.
    • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
    • Effective verbal and written communication, math and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously while maintaining team relations and connections.
